Job Description
The Wine Educator is a direct brand representative of the Constellation Brands’ luxury wine division, and specifically The Prisoner Wine Company. The primary roles of this position are to manage, develop, and implement programming content, and to strategically implement brand messaging to support sales and DTC initiatives.  Working closely with Brand, Sales, the Senior Manager of DTC & Hospitality and the DTC Manager at The Prisoner Wine Company, this position aims to ensure that the education programs align with and support the strategic focus and growth of Constellation Brands. The Wine Educator hosts the highest level of trade visitors, such as principles of distributors and buyers for strategic accounts. This position is also responsible for knowing and understanding critical sales and marketing information and is accountable for communicating that information with discretion and judgment to Constellation Brand’s most important trade customers.
Responsibilities
Education and Staff Training Lead: (85%)
Host guest experiences which includes educational tastings, seminars and meals.
Exercise independent decision making and formulate brand programming action plans based on interactions with top-tier trade guests during one-on-one visits.  
May travel to lead off-site seminars or other sales and marketing or DTC needs in the field
Manage the communication of brand messaging to all guests, exercising discretion on SKU availability both for the trade and for consumers
Track and maintain current knowledge of Constellation field sales strategy (initiatives, calendars, incentives) in order to independently know which SKUs should be presented and when they should be presented to the various types of visiting trade guests.
Speak knowledgeably about viticulture and winemaking
Liaise with sales and marketing in order to secure the most efficient return on investment for all visits.
Greet, assist and communicate with visitors spontaneously, consistently and graciously.
Manage the training on sales and marketing and DTC strategy for Hospitality Education and Tasting Room Associates. 
Manage the training on new visitor programs for Wine Education and Tasting Room Associates.
Monitor SKU priority and consumer insights data throughout the year. As brand priorities shift, create new programs and train Wine Education and Tasting Room Associates
Create and implement continued training of viticulture and enology to Wine Education and Tasting Room Associates.
Program Development: (15%)
Identify needs for new visitor and trade programs through regular communication with the DTC team, the brand team and through sales communications, keeping brand and SKU prioritization in-mind
Ensure all programming can be adjusted or edited by visitor type; for example, distributor principle or manager, Constellation sales training, On-Premise or Off-Premise guest.
Maintain knowledge of available inventory, distributor allotment by region or by distributor (in multi-distributor states).
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience:
College degree preferred
Minimum 5 years’ experience in hospitality and/or production in the wine industry.
Minimum WSET Level 3, Certified Specialist in Wine, or Certified Sommelier or equivalent
Skills and Knowledge:
Ability to read, write and speak in an educated, professional manner.
Ability to communicate information in a clear, concise manner utilizing creative methods to inform and educate guests
Ability to work in an independent, unsupervised fashion with discretionary self-discipline and follow through.
Refined sales, marketing and public relations skills.
Ability to taste, discriminate and describe on a blind basis a wide range of wines and foods.
Mastery of food and wine affinities
Comprehensive knowledge of viticulture, winemaking, wine marketing, and/or wine tasting.
Must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid California driver’s license
Intermediate office skills with the ability to conduct office work and communicate via a PC and its applications. This includes basic knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
Competency in speaking and writing in a foreign language, preferably Spanish
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Occasional travel between Constellation Brands winery properties as needed.
Ability to speak to a large group without amplification a minimum of 4 hours.
Ability to work on feet for at least 8 hours.
Ability to lift and stack wine cases (forty pounds per case) by hand and handcart.
Ability to travel by land/air to provide wine education field support to sales team members.
